We have just returned from dropping my parents off at the airport. It was somewhat difficult to see them go, but I kept refocusing my thoughts to the remodeling job. But, before I talk about our plans and progress with that, I will tell you how much we enjoyed having Mom and Dad here.

Saturday was Mom's birthday. I won't say which one. Most of you know, and if you don't, it doesn't matter!
Mom was with all of her great grandDAUGHTERS and she was a girl again! We girls went to the park, followed by "icees" at the corner store. And of course there was cake.....Mom's favorite carrot cake with cream cheese icing made by Ashlyn and frosted by Samantha.

Sunday after church we got a "Four generations" picture with Heather and girls. Sunday evening we got one with Jake and Emmie! Jake and his family stayed until bedtime visiting and we were entertained by Emmaleigh and her "free style dance". (I will try to get this on video for some point in the future!)

As I mentioned in my last post, Mom and Dad started their visit with us by traveling to Pensacola where we enjoyed some of Dad's siblings. Once we returned, we did our best to entertain frequently. Mostly our kids and grandkids, of course.....but also friends or neighbors of ours that the folks' have gotten acquainted with over the years. It made for some hectic times, but I think they enjoyed it.

It felt so good to have them near, if even for a short time. And I think that both of my kids and their little families plan to visit Michigan this summer while Ron and I are there. It helps me not to feel so sad when they leave.....looking forward to seeing them again. The time will go fast for them in the park and us in the midst of our remodeling and soon they will be packing to return to Michigan (late April). I told Mom as they unloaded at the airport that when they reach home in Michigan they will have only about 6 weeks before we will be leaving to head that way.
Today is a beautiful day....with temps in the upper 70's. We are having a very breezy day, something that is rare for Louisiana (except during hurricane season....haha) and I have hung all of our sheets on the line.
We are going to get back to business on the house now. Stay tuned!

Goodness. Whose genes did I get anyway? Obviously it wasn't from your side of the family !!! HA I look HUGE in that picture. Like the Jolly Green Giant with a bunch of muchkins !!! Geeze.....

You are so lucky to be tall. We DO look like munchkins, but you are beautiful! I don't know where you inherited your height OR gorgeous red hair but I always thought God gave us a special gift in you. Mom

Bucket List!

It dawned on me yesterday last week that I often think about blogging and sharing with you the things we are doing in our retirement.  I have gone so far as sitting down at the computer and drafting a post, or beginning to.  But it can take me up to an hour to get through the process....collecting my thoughts, collecting my photos from my iPhone or my camera, getting them into the computer, filing them where I can FIND them again....and then inserting them into the post.  Very often I get interrupted with something....or just feel that I should be spending that hour doing something else....and it just doesn't get done. So...time passes and then I feel guilty.  Then I feel like I have to apologize...then that comes before a post of what we are actually DOING and I end up running out of time.  My list of drafts has several posts that begin with apologies and never get to the actual meat of the message!  Oh my!  So...here I am again...in the wee hours...

Cold Sunday afternoon

There is something about a gray Sunday afternoon when the temp is cool (I won't mention HOW cool....for those of you who live NORTH of me and may SCOFF) to make you want  a fireplace, or a snuggly blanket and a good book, or at the very least some fuzzy slippers and a steamy bowl of gumbo with hot french bread.  I guess I could scrounge up the blanket, book and some slippers! Oh well....here I sit at my computer! I promised a friend that I was going to try to blog more in 2011....and I really will try. I really do stay awfully busy, but maybe I could sleep less.......!  In my effort to blog more often, the following is a Blog Ramble.  (Definition of a Blog Ramble: Nothing very interesting and no pictures)  Here goes: I need a new computer. Friday

Hi folks! I AM alive! I am sorry I haven't posted, but I have had a cold and have spent most of the week just laying on the couch. Today I felt much better and even had the folks over for a crock-pot supper. I did all my laundry today too, and we went over to "their" house for ice cream after supper. As we were visiting with Mom and Dad this evening, I mentioned that I was starting to realize that I had had some misconceptions about what our visit here would be like. I felt like we would be making more friends and socializing with these "new friends" more. I thought the weather would be a bit warmer. I thought Ron would get more involved in SOME of the many and varied activities here. Well....in many ways, my son is right. The majority of the people who are staying in this park are here for the winter.....are snowbirds who don't want to be in ice and snow during the winter....and are old.
